I tried to get my hair cut the other day. I went into a hairdressers and said “vorrei (I want)” and mimed cutting my hair. The response “No capisco (I don't understand)”.
WHAT!?!?!

haha two years ago I was alone in nanjing and desperate..finished shawing cream and these chinese man don't seems to neeed much of,so I wandered in the city center (nanjing being the Jiangsu county capital and former china capital-kuomintang in taiwan still consider it as the real one- I was confident to found a bottle of shawing cream...
but to no avail.
So then I decided to treat me with a beard cut in a barber shop.
To my surprise only female crew and when I mimic the beard cut, they manage to let me fully understand
1)in these barber shop they don't cut beard but do many other services targeted to a male customer....
2)if i really want to cut my beard,I can do much better at home myself of with a little help from my wife (or girlfriend this point not clear to me...maybe they assume me being old should be married).
so your "non capisco" not too bad...
